The Miami Heat landed their whale this past summer, as they were able to land Jimmy Butler in a multi-team trade. He is now where he was always meant to be.

The Miami Heat are an organization that typically only takes on a certain type of player. While they will take on players that they wouldn’t typically take on, they require that these players adhere to certain stipulations and if they can’t, their indifference to said stipulations are dealt with expeditiously and directly.

While the players they typically take on usually come to embody the meaning of the Miami Heat Culture mantra, there are those rare cases when a player already has that in him and dare I say, built into the makeup of his character. While not a Miami Heat player reference but with links to the Godfather, the great Pat Riley, Magic Johnson with his electric smile, personality, and amazing social skills embodied the meaning of the Showtime era lakers. He was the breathing personification of what that particular mantra meant, for this Miami Heat team though, that player is Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler is what Heat Culture means. From the way that he carries himself, to the way he plays the game, or the way he approaches preparation(such as the early morning rises), and even the infamous amount of care he puts into work ethic or effort given by his teammates, they are all character traits of Butler that speak to what the Miami Heat are all about as a team and an organization. Outside of the fact that they were tailor-made for each other, here are two more reasons in particular that pointed to him always wanting to be in Miami.

Allowed to be himself

Butler seems like the type of guy who’s content with the simpler things in the grand scheme of it all, but he does seem particular. Those types of people are often keen on continuing to do whatever it is that helped them make it to wherever they are, so continuing to be himself must be that continuity for Jimmy.

It also doesn’t hurt, and as mentioned earlier, that the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler are just different iterations of the same approach, beliefs, and core values. However, that is the first reason why he was always meant to be in Miami.

Surrounded by multiple versions of himself

By now, everyone should know about the tirade that essentially got Jimmy Butler out of Minnesota. In case you don’t, the main point is that it seemed to be over what he perceived as a lack of want to on the behalf of his fellow star teammates in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns.

That’s something that he doesn’t have to worry about with the Miami Heat because as we mentioned, in order to remain a member of the team, there are certain standards that you have to meet. In meeting those standards, the players find themselves doing certain things and playing a certain way.

To go back to the overall point of Butler and the Miami Heat sharing a ton of the same qualities, this is another reason that Jimmy was always meant to be in Miami. He knew that playing there meant that he never had to worry about whether his teammates were working as hard as he was.

There are other reasons why he chose Miami, like the fact that he had the opportunity to choose on his own, as mentioned in the above clip. While there could have even been more reasons than that, the above were two of the more essential reasons why he was always meant to be in South Beach.
