The Miami Heat are well known for a mantra that some call “marketing” in “Heat Culture”. In case you don’t know what it is, it’s made of the following stuff.

The Miami Heat is an organization that is known for a few things. They will always play their hardest, no matter the amount of or lack of talent that they seemingly have on their roster.

Their players will always be in tip-top shape and conditioning, as a regular member of the rotation or not, being in Miami Heat shape is a must to remain on this roster. They are also known for being able to find a diamond in the rough, mining gems like Kendrick Nunn, Duncan Robinson, Derrick Jones Jr., and Chris Silva left and right. Speaking of Chris Silva, they are also known for what has come to be called the Heat Culture.

While some have a hard time understanding exactly what it is, being that it isn’t tactile such as that which can be touched via the hand or human extremity, it is a very real thing. While some want to call it “branding”, “marketing”, or a “catchphrase”, it is more than that, it is a mantra that those withing the walls and confines of the building and organization live by on a daily basis.

Lastly, it is made of the type of stuff that ultimately culminated in something that we saw last night from the Miami Heat organization and the NBA. This is the part of the program where we loop Chris Silva back into the fold.

On Friday night, the Miami Heat, the NBA, and other NBA entities around the globe made this special moment happen. If all indications are true, Silva’s mom hadn’t seen him in years. He had only been home once since coming over at the age of 16.

After coming over to play basketball in the states, he landed at South Carolina under coach Frank Martin. While Silva’s game and playing style say exactly why he was a Frank Martin kind of guy, that fact and the tutelage under Martin indicates why he was a perfect fit for the Miami Heat, the culture, and why he has excelled in his short stints on the floor this season in just his rookie year.

Silva embodies what it means to play for the Heat, he’s sort of the second coming of UD in a lot of ways when you watch him play. The effort, the heart, the will, the physicality, the sheer determination, it’s all rather Udonis Haslem-like if you ask us.

dark. Next. Set it in stone, Bam Adebayo will be an All-Star this season

Either way, last night was a super special moment for Silva, his mom, the Miami Heat organization, the NBA, fans of both the league and the Heat, and just anyone with a heart. There is no love like a mother’s love. The Miami Heat know that and they had to give Chris Silva this experience, but this is also the type of stuff that the Heat Culture is made of in case you were wondering.
