In our ongoing Miami Heat Hot Topics series, we’ll catch up on the stories we’ve written so far this past couple days here at All U Can Heat. Among our topics, we take a look at Jimmy Butler’s case to get on the MVP ballot, and we declare Bam Adebayo a fitting All-Star.

We also examine the tough situation the Heat have in any trade scenario, and the incredible performance the team has had in the clutch so far this season.

Without further ado, we’ll get started on the past few days that were here on All U Can Heat.

What case does Jimmy Butler have for MVP?

Right off the bat, we can comfortably say Jimmy Butler is not the MVP of the NBA this season. That will probably be a two or three horse race between Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden and perhaps Luka Doncic, but Butler has a case to make the top five on the ballot. It would help if his shot starts falling, but he’s been impactful in every other way so far this season and it’s turning heads around the league.

Bam Adebayo will be an All-Star this year:

There’s no such thing as a true lock in the NBA, but Bam Adebayo should be considered close to a lock to make the All-Star game this season. Assuming Joel Embiid and Antetokounmpo take the starting two front court spots, Bam Adebayo has to be considered a front-runner for a reserve spot coming off the bench thanks to the coaches’ vote.

Jimmy Butler and the Heat are kings of clutch:

The Miami Heat have won games in a variety of ways, going 24-8 so far. The most impressive way they’ve won games has been in the clutch, where they’re 11-3 with wins against a host of impressive teams. They’ve lost the fewest clutch games in the NBA, and that’s largely thanks to Butler’s leadership and the execution brought about by head coach Erik Spoelstra.

Challenges facing the Heat in any trade scenario:

The Miami Heat are in the unenviable spot of needing more bodies but not having the means to get them. They’re up against the hard cap, they have the league minimum players on the roster already, and they want to keep cap space free for the summer of 2021 when they hope to pursue a superstar like Antetokounmpo. They could make a trade, but it’s going to be tough for it to be beneficial while checking all of these boxes.
