The Miami Heat took a terrible defeat at the hands of the Washington Wizards during their last meeting. Will they look to make it right on Wednesday?

With the Miami Heat set to welcome the Washington Wizards into their building on Wednesday night, there has to be one thing on their minds more than any other. Payback.

On their last meeting in Chocolate City, the home of the Wizards in Washington, D.C., the Wiz drubbed the Miami Heat on the backs of Ian Mahinmi, Ish Smith, Jordan McRae and a former Lipscomb basketball player named Garrison Mathews. It was in this December 30th matchup that Smith went for 19 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

McRae put up 29 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and two steals on 6/8 shooting from three. Mahinmi went for 25 points, five rebounds, an assist, two steals, and two blocks. Garrison Matthews, a two-way guy, went for 28 points and four rebounds, on 4/7 shooting from deep en route to a 123-105 victory over Miami.

This must still be fresh in the minds of Miami Heat players. With the last set of results combined with the Miami Heat’s fortified record in their building, you have to imagine that this one will go in the Miami Heat’s favor.

We know that they can’t take them lightly, as indicated by the results of the last contest, so the Miami Heat need to come out as if they are facing the Milwaukee Bucks or another one of the best teams in the league. This may be even more the case if they are eventually without Jimmy Butler or Goran Dragic, who have both shown up on the injury report prior to this game.

Butler missed the last game against the Kings due to “hip soreness”, but the Miami Heat may sorely need him present for this one. Here is everything else you need to know about this game.
