Miami Heat Rumors: Shouldn’t have the slightest interest in Andre Iguodala

The Miami Heat are doing pretty well this season and subsequently right in the middle of the rumor mill. Here’s why they should stay far away from this move.

The Miami Heat are in the midst of a wonderful bounce-back season that none of us could have seen coming. We knew that the Heat were simply just missing a guy, but we didn’t know that Jimmy would come in and have such a vast impact so fast.

By a guy, we mean a player with the fortitude, star power, and the game enough to come in and hit the big shot for the Heat when they needed a bucket.  This could also be the player that could serve to stop the bleeding when they get in a situation where momentum is starting to slip away or go too far into one direction. Jimmy Butler has been all of that this year for the Miami Heat and even through a massive outside shooting slump, that we think the 76ers were the perfect cure for.

In any event, with success comes rumors. As The Notorious B.I.G. Biggie Smalls once told us, Mo money, Mo problems.

While it isn’t purely a problem at this moment, the Miami Heat have now found themselves at the forefront of Andre Iguodala rumors. At least they have according to Shams Charania.

It’s not that hard, actually pretty simple and straightforward. The Miami Heat have no need for Iggy.

No matter what it might take sending the Grizzlies to facilitate a deal, why would the Miami Heat do it? To be specific, the Miami Heat have a version of Iguodala in James Johnson.

To be even more precise, they have a younger version, as JJ is several years younger than Iggy. If you want to take advantage of such a skillset, then just play James Johnson more.

Counter-arguers will say that “Iggy is expiring” and while that may be true, that isn’t traditionally how Pat Riley operates. He doesn’t make “salary cap” moves, especially when he has a team that he thinks is worthy of competing and this team is a contender.

To conclude, this would at best be a lateral move. It would be a lateral move for a player that mirrors talent that’s already on the roster and pointless. This is why the Miami Heat and Pat Riley shouldn’t even consider going near Andre Iguodala.
