Tre Jones- 6’2, 185lbs- Duke (Chauncey Billups)

Tre Jones is a true point guard, which obviously runs in the family when you consider that he and his older brother, Tyus Jones, have followed eerily similar paths. Both starred as point guards for the famed Duke Blue Devils basketball program under Coach K, while they should both go on to then be first-round NBA Draft picks.

As mentioned, already a seasoned point guard, Jones could come right in and run a team as soon as next season. There will be growing pains, as with any rookie, but he is fully capable.

He has the leadership ability, the playmaking ability, and the ability to hit a big shot. The knock on him was his shooting, but after nearly doubling his scoring output from 9.4 points per game in his freshman season to 16.2 in his sophomore, after raising his three-point shooting percentage by nearly 10 percentage points, and by doing the little things like doing what it took to raise his free throw attempts per game from 1.7 to 4.8 per contest, he has shown that you shouldn’t worry about that.

Jones is a Miami Heat type of guy, as he seems to be glossed in the stuff that makes up the Miami Heat Culture. He is a hard worker, who just wants to win, and doesn’t need to be flashy to do it. To be simple and direct about it, he’s Chauncey Billups, a very good to a potentially great lead guard who can knock down the big shot.
