Stuck on the lowly Charlotte Hornets, Miles Bridges would really develop and find his NBA path with an organized club like the Miami Heat.

There isn’t any NBA bloodline or track record with top cultures that suggest Miles Bridges would be a solid fit in South Beach. But everything about his game screams Miami Heat project.

At 22-years old the forward is posting 13 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals for a Charlotte Hornets team that may be an entire decade away from contention. That being said, it’s hard to fault Bridges for not being the most astute defender.

Michael Jordan‘s Hornets are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, behind the league’s 25th worst Defensive Rating this season at 112.8. Bridges was an off again, on again starter in his first year with Charlotte but has started all but one game for the team this season.

Bridges push to be a ‘three-and-d’ guy in today’s NBA makes him the most excellent guinea pig for head coach Erik Spoelstra and the Heat. I mean, they took Derrick Jones Jr from the Phoenix Suns and made him an honest defender. What can’t they do?

It’s also worth noting the aforementioned Jones is headed for free agency this summer. With Miles Bridges still on his rookie deal, he could prove a prime replacement, dunks and all.
