The Miami Heat run Florida, as of this season anyways. Pilfering the ‘best team in the state’ handle, next, is to pilfer one of their young beasts.

Jonathan Isaac

Jonathan Isaac is a freak. Let’s just get that out of the way.

At 6’11, the guy is as big and as long as they come. Get this though, he has the athleticism of a guy with a third of his size and he doesn’t even know how to fully utilize it all yet!

A gargantuan of a guy, as noted, Issac hasn’t even begun to realize what his offensive potential is yet either. He has mainly focused on dominating in the auxiliary points of the game, for the most part, with the occasional high output offensive night mixed in every few games.

He is a walking double-double, with the ability to sprinkle in a triple-double every so often. While what you see with your eyes is enticing enough, his size and abilities on the basketball court, to know where he came from means just that much more.

Issac comes from the Florida State Seminoles basketball program, under coach Leonard Hamilton. Known for being able to produce big guys especially, Issac had the size of one of those daunted bigs but the skillset and athleticism of a top-notch wing.

Coming from Florida State also meant that he would be schooled in the finer nuance and principle of defense though. Heck, it practically meant that he would be a defense-first guy, for the most part.

That is a welcomed piece of news, however, when you see his pterodactyl-like frame once expanded, you just salivate thinking about the offensive potential. Again, Isaac hasn’t scratched the surface of his offensive potential, but intangibly, what you see on defense, his unteachable physical profile, and based on the effort you see him give on a nightly basis, you just have to wonder what it would look like in the Miami Heat program.

That is why I believe that Jonathan Isaac is a guy that not only feels like a future Heat player, he also fits the mold via the eye test.

The Miami Heat can find talent under a rock, literally. However, when you’ve seen guys that seem to already fit the mold, why not chase that?

Some will undoubtedly fit better than others, but can the players in question help at all? Sure they can and it definitely helps when the intangibles that stand behind their games, already match those intangibles that the Miami Heat so very much value.
