As the Miami Heat look to explore more depth in their rotation, could we see Solomon Hill get some run to finish out the season?

When speaking with reporters on Friday afternoon, Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra suggested he’ll expand his rotation to the furthest depths of this roster in Orlando.

If you’re wondering what that might look like, it likely starts with seeing Solomon Hill actually taking the floor. A piece of the deal that saw Justise Winslow dealt from South Beach and Andre Iguodala make his arrival, the veteran forward has played just 91 minutes for the team thus far.

Hill’s only played seven seasons in the NBA, making his mark on the league when he landed a four-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans worth $48-million. It immediately proved an overpay, of which there were many in the 2016 offseason.

He’s since been traded to the Grizzlies and is now one of the newest members of this Heat team. With a potential end to his career on the horizon, there’s no doubt he’d welcome the opportunity to prove himself as the season wraps up in Orlando, Florida.

Fortunately for Hill, his game may fit easily into coach Spoelstra’s system.

One of the things Miami has done well as a team this season, despite Jimmy Butler’s shooting slump, is knock down the three-ball. Hill’s a career 34 percent shooter from deep and was shooting 38 percent with the Memphis Grizzlies this season before being dealt to the Heat.

And just as recently as December, he put up 22 points against the Indiana Pacers.

As Spoelstra looks for extra manpower to continue surprising opposing defenses, expect the seven-year vet to be among the top of potential answers. Hill’s attempted just six shots for Miami since the trade deadline but should expect to see a lot more in Orlando.

If the Miami Heat are to make a deep run in this upcoming postseason, solidifying a rotation in the end to the regular season will be crucial. As head coach Erik Spoelstra works to figure that out, look for him to give Solomon Hill a chance at earning his place.
