The Miami Heat’s greatest player ever may have been a superhuman at times on the court, but his latest social media actions show that he’s still just a human.
The Miami Heat are an organization that is no stranger to messy situations. When LeBron James hosted a made for tv infomercial, now dubbed The Decision, to announce that he was coming to Miami, that was one of those situations.
The subsequent pep rally that followed was another scenario that can be viewed in this same light. You know, the “not two, not three, not four” one.
The Miami Heat’s greatest player ever is no stranger to controversy either. Whether it be a string of shaky business dealings, such as this reported story on the matter from 2009 or his messy separation from his former wife and the mother of his two oldest children, he has seen his fair share of controversy as well.
Well, Dwyane Wade is facing controversy again after a since-deleted Tweet made the rounds. Here is the deleted tweet.
In response to recent controversial remarks made by actor, comedian, entertainment mogul, Nick Cannon, Dwayne Wade initially tweeted the above response in what you would assume is support of Cannon but deleted it as the backlash started to pile up for both him and Cannon.
Miami Heat legend is no stranger to controversy, however, this time he may have really stepped into hot water.
The fans were not happy. Heck, it even extended beyond the regular scope of NBA and sports fans to the general public.
Wade also took the platform to explain his decision to tweet it initially, as well as to explain why he deleted the tweet. Here is that quote in full, by tweet.

He continued this apology in a second tweet. In this next one, he tries to explain his motivation and where he thought his error may have been. Here is that tweet.
While those words seemed authentic from the NBA legend, many aren’t ready to forgive Flash so quickly. Specifically, ESPN Fantasy Football expert Matthew Berry had a sharp reaction and criticism for the all-time NBA great.
Here is Berry’s response. It’s a quote directly from a tweet.
"That doesn’t make sense. Those words and thoughts are a part of the “content and brand he has helped create,” to use your words. Will you say that what Nick said was wrong?"
A tangled web we weave is the appropriate response to Dwyane Wade’s tweets. Again, he has since backtracked and deleted the original tweet, but how will this impact his legacy moving forward?
That is something that remains to be seen, but we will keep an eye on it.
