The Miami Heat are a team known for their culture and selflessness. That extends all the way around the building though and Eric Reid exemplifies it.
The Miami Heat are just one scrimmage game away from officially restarting their bid for a championship. After knocking off the Sacramento Kings in their first scrimmage contest of the restart, they then would travel to, sort of, the Jazz for their second scrimmage game.
The game would be an exciting one, although one being played by the Miami Heat without the services of Bam Adebayo (which we kind of expected) and Jimmy Butler (which we didn’t expect but can completely understand).
The Miami Heat almost didn’t miss a beat, although Duncan Robinson didn’t decide to sink his first basket until near the end of the first half. They found themselves in several trying situations, being down by 10 or more points on multiple occasions but in true Heat fashion, coming back to close the gap each time.
The Miami Heat would lose the game by two points, 99-101, but with all things considered, it was still a win for the Miami Heat. Although we absolutely adore Heat basketball, that wasn’t even the biggest highlight of Saturday’s game.
The Miami Heat are back on the court, but the social justice causes haven’t stopped. One of the Miami Heat voices, Eric Reid, is a glowing example of this.
With the league moving towards allowing the players and all those associated to be more vocal than ever about social justice causes and even though neither Jimmy Butler nor LeBron will wear a call to action on their jerseys, statements are still being made. Take this one, for example, from the voice of the Heat in the great Eric Reid.
We have nothing to add, as it was well and completely put here by one of the best, if not the absolute best, voices in NBA basketball.
The Miami Heat are back playing basketball, but that doesn’t mean that the challenges that we faced as a nation are over. There is still work to do, a ton of it.
Eric Reid did his part on Saturday by making sure that we all were still aware of these facts, even while enjoying our favorite little professional basketball team get after it. Thanks Mr. Reid!
Well said and we all needed it! That’s how Eric Reid struck the right chord in his heartfelt Black Lives Matter message from Saturday.
