Are the Miami Heat one of the front-runners to land Giannis when he’s free? The rumor mill seems to think so.

Don’t believe us? Here’s is a report from Yahoo’s Vincent Goodwill, per the NBA Central’s Twitter account.

See for yourself.

That isn’t the first we’ve heard of this Giannis Antetokoumpo phenomenon but with this latest mention combined with the current state of being, the Miami Heat being up 2-0 in a series against the very player and subject of the rumors, it got us to thinking. Is Giannis paying attention to what the Heat are doing already?

We think he might be. Whether he is or isn’t in reality though, here are three things they’ve potentially shown the Freak in their first-round series.

They Can Guard Anybody Well As A Team… Even Him

The Miami Heat have guarded Giannis Antetokoumpo well in this series. Even though he’s averaged 23.5 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists across the two games, his numbers haven’t been as effective on the outcome as they typically are.

Whether that be only allowing him to do what they want him to do or making sure that he isn’t the one with a chance to make a play in the most crucial moments, the Miami Heat have figured something out that allows them to neutralize what he offers his team.

Whether it be Bam Adebayo, Jae Crowder, Jimmy Butler, or the entire team, this Miami Heat team has shown Giannis Antetokounmpo that they can render him ineffective on the outcome at times. You know what they say, “if you can’t beat them, join them”.

We’ll wait.
