The Miami Heat have a chance to close the door on Sunday in their series against the Milwaukee Bucks. Coach Spo hears your hype, but he isn’t listening.
The Miami Heat are only one game, four quarters, or 48 minutes away from sealing their fate in this particular part of their NBA playoff run. With just one game left to win before they can call themselves Eastern Conference Finals participants, they will get just that chance on Sunday.
To double down on the potential possibilities, Sunday not only sees them have their first chance to get this series over, but it sees them with the opportunity to get it over in sweeping fashion. With a 3-0 series lead over Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks, Jimmy Butler and his Miami Heat could finish the job then.
While the Miami Heat have garnered plenty of praise across their first three wins in this series, the past isn’t lost on them. They know what the rest of the league and basketball communities have been saying about them for years.
The Miami Heat are one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals. Will they get it done on Sunday?
Whether it be that they, Spo, or Pat Riley are “nothing without LeBron”, that “Pat Riley is washed”, or any of the other creative little things they’ve had to say over the years, we’ve heard them all. Coach Spo has too.
He actually broached the topic recently. Here is a quote from the Miami Heat’s head man on the topic, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.
"We are who we are. Some years, we’re a punch line. Some years, people say it’s the wrong culture. But who cares? We’re not making apologies for it. Our culture is probably UD screaming at everybody in one of the timeouts and us liking it."
So, Coach Spo has heard your jokes, your jabs, and your “punch lines”. To be quite frank, they weren’t even that funny.
I just have one question for all you amateur comedians, commentators, and pundits though. Who’s laughing now?
