The Miami Heat value versatility and multipleness and a man that can slide up and down three positions on both ends of the floor certainly fits that bill.

When looking at the Miami Heat on that side of the equation, the transactional side, the 20th pick, a bit of cash, and say… Kendrick Nunn should be enough to secure Oladipo. While Nunn has been one of the best young players and rookies in the league this season for a lot of it, he fell out of the rotation in the bubble and has subsequently stayed there for much of the playoffs.

He is still a young player though with tremendous scoring ability when he’s right. Although slightly smaller and a little less versatile, Nunn can also step right into the minutes that would be left behind by Dipo as a two-guard. That’s almost right where we are headed though.

The reason Oladipo makes sense from a basketball perspective for the Miami Heat is fairly simple. He is a two-way guy, meaning he plays both ends of the floor.

He can hit his open jump shots. He can also play up and down three different positions, being able to man either the point guard, the two-guard, or even the three-man’s role at times.

As mentioned earlier, the Miami Heat value being multiple and versatile. They want their players to be able to do a lot of different things and able to be comfortable in different roles, positions, spots, or situations on the floor.

This goes for all of them. This stands the same from the star players down to the last guys on the bench.

Victor Oladipo fits the profile as one of those guys. Also, you value the fact that when need be, he can slot in as the point guard and run your team or initiate the offense.

Lastly and most importantly, you add another guy and big gun to your team. Right now, the Miami Heat have four guys that can make it happen if need be.

This means that if you need a big shot, big play, or need to trust someone to take the big shot, they have four guys currently who could do that. That would be Tyler Herro, Goran Dragic, Bam Adebayo, and Jimmy Butler.

By adding Oladipo, you not only add another star-caliber talent, but you add another guy that you can add to that list. Victor Oladipo is still a big-time player, as he showed in the first-round series between Miami and Indiana.

Nothing is set in stone yet and the Miami Heat want to finish this season right first, but when it comes to the names that they should be chasing for next season and beyond, Dipo should be at the top of that list.

He wants out of his current home. The Miami Heat seem to have just enough and the right kind of assets to land him, he fits the culture, and he can come in to seamlessly fit what they have going on now and what has gotten them to the NBA Finals.

It’s almost the perfect move. Really.

That’s why Victor Oladipo would be the perfect play this offseason.
