Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is (probably) the best in the business.

Don’t forget to give credit to the guy leading the Miami Heat’s charge off the court.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra continues to command respect in the wake of every season that he seemingly always overachieves. He didn’t even finish as a top-three finalist for the NBA’s annual Coach of the Year award, and now that looks just straight-up silly.

Coach Spoelstra has done a great job integrating Jimmy Butler into the role of number one gun that hasn’t really even been a thing in Miami since LeBron James left for Cleveland. The Heat rolled out zero All-Stars last season, with mostly team efforts earning them their 39 wins.

There’s also been injuries, an arrival of newcomers by trade, and oh yeah: Spoelstra’s inability to experience fear in the face of risk, now having permanently benched two guys who started essentially every game of the regular season for veterans with playoff experience.

His defensive adjustments in both the second-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics won’t be discussed enough going further, .

But head coach Erik Spoelstra has led the Miami Heat to another NBA Finals. And if they win this one too, it’s going to be time to seriously start rethinking the NBA’s coaching totem pole.
