The Miami Heat have surprised everyone but themselves all season. Jimmy Butler’s response to the label ‘underdog’ shows how confident the Heat are.

Throughout the Miami Heat’s playoff run, Jimmy Butler has pushed back at the notion that the Heat have been underdogs at any point. He has continuously displayed the same confidence his team plays with on a nightly basis.

Simply put, the Heat don’t view themselves as underdogs no matter who they’re up against. That remains true ahead of the NBA Finals, as Butler once again explained how his team views themselves.

The Miami Heat are used to being counted out. Even one game down though, don’t call them the ‘underdogs’.

It’s that unwavering confidence and trust in each other that has helped propel the Miami Heat to the Finals. Notice he doesn’t mention the Lakers at any point in his answer.  It isn’t about the Lakers for Butler and the Heat, it’s about them knowing they are a ‘really good team’ and focusing on executing like they have all season.

One of the many reasons the Heat are more than capable of winning the Championship is this confidence. From early in the season, until the final days in the NBA bubble, the Heat have been locked in and focused on doing things the Miami Heat way.

As most know, the Miami Heat way is a great approach. As this series plays out, know the Heat won’t back down or come unglued when faced with adversity. There’s a special vibe to the group and you notice it just by hearing players talk about their group.

Jimmy Butler is right, the Heat are a really good basketball team. Buckle in for what is going to be a wild NBA Finals series. It may not always look like it, but the Miami Heat are one of the toughest teams out there and they won’t go down without an absolute fight.
