The Miami Heat got their first NBA Finals win in Game 3 on Sunday. Jimmy Butler willed them to victory and it’s as simple as that.

The Miami Heat were written off. They were as good as done.

Let everyone on the outside tell it, they may as well not even play in Game 3 or the following necessary games, as LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers had already won the series in two games.

Then… Jimmy Butler said no.

From the opening tip to the closing buzzer of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Jimmy Butler was a man on a mission. He assisted, he rebounded, he scored, he defended, he drove, he fell, he got up, he did it all.

Usually, there is some sort of figurative language tied up into these “he did it all” declarations, but this one is absolutely and completely true. If it was to be done or needed to be done in this game in order for the Miami Heat to have a chance and then ultimately win it, Jimmy Butler’s fingerprints were all over it.

The Miami Heat came within one game of the Lakers on Sunday in the NBA Finals with a Game 3 win. Jimmy Butler made sure of it.

There is nothing more to say.

He hit open shots. He made tough drives. He got fouled and hit big free throws.

In the closing clutch moments when the Heat looked to be losing control of things, he went and demanded the rock, getting the Miami Heat back on track every time. Game 3 of the NBA Finals was officially, The Jimmy Butler Game.

The Miami Heat and the series get two days off before resuming the series on Wednesday. Jeff Van Gundy of ESPN’s broadcast noted that Jimmy Butler said that the Lakers “were in trouble now” as the game was being decided.

Knowing that Goran Dragic and/or Bam Adebayo came close to playing on Sunday is what he might be looking at. This was not a fun game to be a Miami Heat fan, but they got it done and it shows that it can be done with what they had.

Next. Three Reasons that Dion Waiters should get a ring either way. dark

They are a live dog as is, especially after Sunday’s performance but if they get the calvary back or just one piece, then this is a totally different series again.

The Miami Heat have life! We can’t wait to see what happens on Wednesday!
