The Miami Heat need more size and shooting, always, but how will they get it?

Joe Harris:

This might be out of Miami’s price range but we have seen weirder things happen in free agency. Harris is a knockdown shooter who is a pretty smart defender as well.

If you’re Miami, why not add another shooter to this core? Harris is also a good cutter, which would fit well with Miami offensive approach. Just thing about Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro does.

Tristan Thompson:

Before Thompson got paid, he was a great value. He did all of the little things and could even guard out on the perimeter at times.

But once he got paid, his value went down. It wasn’t because he became less of a player, but relative to his salary, he always underperformed.

I liked what Thompson gives you at 7-9 Million but not at 16-18 Million. At the right price for the Miami Heat though, Thompson would be a nice fit and especially on the offensive glass.

DeMarcus Cousins:

Due to Cousins’s injury history, the market won’t be in his favor. Miami, however, could give him a shot.

They need size and more presence in that paint/rim area. If it works it could be another project turned success for Miami and one of the highest order.

De’Anthony Melton:

The common NBA fan probably doesn’t know who Melton is but he is a nice combo guard who plays both guard positions well. Melton has a defensive upside with a 6’9″ wingspan, quick lateral movement ability, and a good eye to read passing lanes.

Miami needs a guard who can guard opposing guards and Melton could be the guy. He needs to work on his jumper and offensive game, but we may can deal with that.
