The Miami Heat just finished their season, but a new one must begin. How shall they proceed?

One of the next pieces of business that the Miami Heat will have to deal with as NBA business moves right along is the upcoming NBA Draft. With the 20th pick in the NBA draft this year, here are the only two options that the Miami Heat should consider as far as how that pick should be used.

If they choose to use the pick on a player, which I highly doubt that they will in considering their history and Pat Riley’s recorded disdain for the draft, it should be for an athletic, rim-running, rim-protecting big if he’s available. Without a true main ball handler for much of the year, as the whole team took turns being that guy, many of us assumed they may go point guard with the pick if they used it but that shouldn’t be the case at this point for a few reasons.

As mentioned, they all shared ball-handling duties, for one. Secondly, much of the offense is ran through Bam Adebayo, so he is effectively a or the main ball handler.

You also have Goran Dragic who seems to have a good intent on returning, thankfully, and he is also a ball handler. Lastly, with the emergence of Tyler Herro, he is the future of the Miami Heat on-ball situation.

With what he is capable of right now and with the fact that he should immediately continue to get better, you want the ball in his hands to create for himself and others when it isn’t in the hands of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, or Goran Dragic.
