The Miami Heat need help protecting the cup and in the paint. They could also use another impact guy… if one is out there to be had.

On top of the fact that their need for a big that can add to their depth and rim protection situation was extremely clear in these NBA Finals, these are the reasons why if they do choose to take a player at 20, it shouldn’t be a guard but a big man who can help in the aforementioned areas of need.

The next acceptable option or plan of the two for the 20th is this. The pick should be packaged in a deal to land another impact guy.

Victor Oladipo anyone? “Why him”, might you ask?

I am glad you did. He seems disgruntled, is on the final year of his deal, and fits the Miami Heat from a need, skillset, and ability perspective.

He can play either guard and a bit of small forward, he can hit the deep ball, he can drive it, and he is a two-way guy. That solves their need for an addition to that ball-handling stable, another impact guy, while also adding shooting and defense.

Those are things that the Miami Heat always value. This goes especially if it comes in the form of a guy like Dipo.

It could go a myriad of ways, I get it, but in knowing the Heat like I believe I do, it likely goes one of the two ways described above. Those should be the only two acceptable options as far as what that pick becomes.
