These two guys have been linked to the Miami Heat for over a year. Is it finally the right time?
2. Jrue Holiday
Staying with the Pelicans, one because of the food in New Orleans that surely leaves us all in the mood for a shrimp Po’boy and two because they have another aging star in Jrue Holiday! Once you throw in the fact that the Miami Heat have been linked to the New Orleans combo guard for some time now and you have a combustible situation.
Only in the most appropriate ways though, of course.
I’m convinced Jrue has been a part of more trade machine debates on espn.com than any other player, as he seems to be always on the move. Keeping with the theme, Holiday would not only look great in a Heat uniform, but he would be a great replacement if Miami can’t keep Goran Dragic around.
His defense and three-point ability are his calling card, which fits right in with the rest of Miami’s backcourt players. He would also add a surefire main ball-handling option as well if the Heat chose to go that route.
3. LaMarcus Aldridge
Once dubbed the next Superman, Aldridge has carved out a really nice career for himself. From being an All-Star in Portland to keeping the Spurs relevant post-Kawhi, Aldridge deserves to chase a ring in a new city and Miami would give him a great opportunity.
LaMarcus would immediately be an upgrade at the position of the big. He could also be someone that the offense could run through when either Jimmy or Bam were in foul trouble or resting on the bench.
You also likely the fact that he can play from the outside and more specifically, knock down a jump shot. While there would inevitably be kinks to work out, his ability to create from the outside would serve to move that process along.
