The Miami Heat are in the Jrue Holiday sweepstakes… once again. Will the get him this time and if so, what would it take to actually get the deal done?

The Miami Heat have been linked to a certain player for a long time. As a matter of fact though, hasn’t he been linked to everyone?

True or false, Jrue Holiday has been fake traded more than any other player in NBA history?

False, it’s a tie between Jrue and CJ McCollum. We’re back at it again this week though, that is… talking about the New Orleans point guard and specifically what it would take to get him to Miami.

The Pelicans have hinted they want to at least compete in the West for a playoff spot, which is the wrong decision. What the Pelicans should work on is developing Zion Williamson and the other young players under new head coach Stan Van Gundy.

New Orleans would also have a plethora of teams jockeying to trade for Holiday, including Miami. It’s no secret that Pat Riley has had his eyes on Jrue over the past couple of seasons.

His combination of ball-handling ability and defensive intensity is what the decision-makers look for in a Miami Heat player. He also wears headbands and honestly, I’m partial to guys who wear headbands.

But what is the right price for Miami to get Jrue? This season is important, but Pat Riley should not sacrifice the next five years to go all-in on the 2020 season.

Meaning, I would be very cautious to trade any legit assets to acquire an older player for this season. Especially a guy on an expiring deal, who you’re going to have to pay next off-season if he opts into his deal, and lastly, who’s over 30.
