The Miami Heat may have their strongest chance ever to land Jrue Holiday from New Orleans. It might take one of, if not their greatest, young players to do so though.

The Miami Heat are in a pickle when it comes to landing another impact guy.

Here’s the thing. They are so close to having what they need to win a title.

This latest NBA Finals run should tell you that. Let’s all be honest in considering this.

With a fully healthy Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic in tow, that series would have minimally gone seven games. The Miami Heat would have had just as good a chance to win it as the Lakers did in that case.

We aren’t crying over spilled milk here, as much as using that point to illustrate a greater point. With slightly more firepower to deploy in that scenario, we are likely looking at a totally different set of circumstances.

That’s where the urge or need to land Holiday becomes as clear as ever. Here’s another thing though.

In order to get a guy of Holiday’s ilk, you are going to have to give up something of value as well. All signs seem to point towards the upcoming second-year dynamo, Tyler Herro.

I can’t say with 100 percent certainty that I would be willing to move him, even for Holiday. Although he never projects to be the defender that Holiday is, who’s to say that his improvements on offense this offseason don’t put him on par with Holiday’s potential additional production, or close to it?

You also take into account his contract, his age, and the fact that he is homegrown for the Miami Heat. That means something.

That also segues perfectly into our next concern though.
