The Miami Heat have been linked to every player that could have been available after their title run. Well, one more just made himself unavailable.

You know, the Miami Heat have been in the midst of more rumors this offseason than any of the last few, if my memory serves me correctly. What is it?

It must be their title run. Coming off such a deep run through the NBA Playoffs and all the way to the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat have been linked to every player that could have been, would have been, or is available to be had or moved.

I am not overreacting or overstating it here, as it seems like they have been linked to everybody. Well, you can take one name off of that list and off the board entirely, for at least another year or so.

The Miami Heat have been linked to almost every available or potentially available player this offseason. Another one comes off the board here though.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo, “San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan has informed the franchise that he is opting into his $27.7 million player option for the 2020-21 season”. Well, that not only closes the door on a Miami Heat move but at least it keeps him away from some of their direct competition as well.

The Los Angeles Lakers were rumored to be interested in his services should he have opted out of that deal. That is all but a moot point now though.

The Miami Heat have a ton of other tires that they can kick. I wouldn’t have been that mad at a play for DeMar DeRozan though, at the right price of course.

While his $27.7 million dollar salary seems a bit farfetched to the naked eye, it’s about par for the course for a talent like DeRozan. The near $30 million price tag would be just a bit much for me though.

We don’t even have to concern ourselves with it now though, as it won’t happen. The Miami Heat must stay at the drawing board.
