The Miami Heat were in play for Jrue Holiday, by all accounts, but he has become the enemy. He is now a teammate of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s in Milwaukee.

The Miami Heat were the best team in the Eastern Conference last season. According to all we’ve heard over the past few years, they weren’t done building, which meant continued improvement.

When you look at the players that have been out there to be had over the past few seasons, be that players that were unhappy with their current situation or free agents, there were only a few that fit. The Miami Heat landed one of them, Jimmy Butler.

With that piece in tow, you had a few other guys out there (we’ll come back to this one as well), such as Jrue Holiday. Stewing in New Orleans after Anthony Davis forced his way to Los Angeles, he seemed ripe for the plucking with a few kinks to work out contractually to potentially make it happen.

Well, according to the Twitter account of The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Milwaukee Bucks landed Jrue Holiday for Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, Three first-round picks, and two future draft swaps from Milwaukee.

That was quite a hall. Miami wouldn’t have gone that high is the safe thing to imagine.

In fact, I am willing to guarantee they wouldn’t have. That’s not the most important thing here though.
