The Miami Heat aren’t locked into the 20th pick… just saying

The Miami Heat are scheduled to select at 20 in Wednesday’s NBA Draft. By no means does that mean that they absolutely will pick their though.

Listen, if we know anything about Pat Riley and the Miami Heat, it’s that they are always scheming. They are always plotting to figure out how they can get the most out of what they have to work with.

It’s evident in every part of the organization. When you look at their rosters, they consistently do the very same thing.

Before Jimmy Butler arrived and over the past few seasons, the Miami Heat have routinely run a bunch of guys on the floor who shouldn’t have had a chance at competing, but they did. Heck, even this season, a lot of people asked why Jimmy was coming to Miami.

They said that he didn’t have anything around him and that they would be a low seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, at best. Look, we know that there was talent there and around him, but let’s be honest, did we think that they were good enough to make a run all the way to the NBA Finals?

The Miami Heat are at 20 right now, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be that way by Wednesday evening.

Not at first, I can be honest. Of course, after watching them for a while, we all started to see something, but that’s just it.

At first, no one thought it was possible. That brings us to this NBA Draft on Wednesday evening.

Don’t lock the Miami Heat in at 20. It’s just as likely that something happens with them between then and now.

They could package the pick in a deal for a player. They could package something with that pick in an attempt to move up, although not likely because that’s not their style.

What is their style is to get something back for their pick, while moving down a bit. That’s probably the most likely outcome if the pick is moved.

Basically, anticipate nothing, but expect anything. It’s how you should always be when Pat Riley is involved.
