The Miami Heat had to get a deal done last season to acquire some things they needed. James Johnson was likely just a cap and money-fit casualty.

A Few Different Scenarios To Factor In

There are equal chances that the Miami Heat didn’t want to move James Johnson last season as there are that they did. That’s why a reunion, at the right cost and under the right circumstances, is perfect.

Again, the money to performance ratio at the time was unbalanced, but here’s the thing about JJ. He’s the exact type of player the Miami Heat covet when he’s right and he’s the exact kind of guy they need to be picking up for this roster at this exact moment right now.

James Johnson is big, versatile, strong, tough, and unafraid of anything. He can create on offense, while he can guard just about anybody on the opposing offense defensively.

Here’s one of the biggest declarations that I made to myself heading into this free agency period and actually a rhetorical question that I found myself asking myself in real-time while it was happening last season. “Boy, what a massive help James Johnson would have been against LeBron James and even Anthony Davis”.

You watched the NBA Finals! You know what I mean then!

I promise you, he could and would have made an impact and a difference there. There are a few things that would need to happen first before we think about a potential reunion though.
