The Celtics are in the losers category because they didn’t want to make a pick at all in this draft. After being unable to trade up to a top-five pick and failing to trade out of this draft entirely, Boston ended up making two pedestrian picks in the first round, while they eventually ended up trading pick 30 to the Memphis Grizzlies.

First up is Aaron Nesmith out of Vanderbilt at pick 14. A lights out shooter, Nesmith was arguably the best shooter in the entire 2020 draft class.

Aaron averaged over 20 points per game during his second season under head coach Jerry Stackhouse. A stress fracture in his foot ended his sophomore season early, which is a concern moving forward if you’re Boston.

Young guys and foot injuries always scare me. He can still really stroke it from deep when he’s right though.

The really peculiar pick here was Payton Pritchard at pick 26. A four-year senior out of Oregon, analysts would call this kid a bunch of names like a: hard worker, locker room guy, blue-collar type of player, or a guy that always brings his lunch pale to work.

Do you know what I call that? An unathletic white guy who plays hard.

That’s what Payton is, but he’s also a good shooter. I can’t see Pritchard making the Celtics roster this season with the guard depth that Boston has.
