The Miami Heat have a knack for developing prospects. That’s what they did for Derrick Jones Jr. and they may just have their next freak athlete in tow.

The Miami Heat are one of the best organization in sports when it comes to scouting and development. That’s not just in the NBA but in the entire sports world.

They are constantly finding guys that people either deemed to be finishednot good enough, or not good enough now and then being able to make pros out of them. In the cases of some of them, they even help elevate to become better than just a pro.

One of their most recent reclamation projects, Derrick Jones Jr., just signed a two-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for about $20 million dollars. That’s a far cry from where he was.

He was cast away from the Valley Of The Sun only a short while ago it seems. The Phoenix Suns couldn’t find a role for him, so the Miami Heat proceeded to turn him into a $10 million dollar a year guy.

That’s not a bad tradeoff. That goes especially for Derrick Jones Jr.

Here’s the good news for Miami though and even with him walking, as they may have just found their next freak athlete to mold. Let meet the next potential Airplane Mode.
