The Miami Heat gave Bam Adebayo the maximum level extension on Tuesday. Why are people so frustrated with his payday?

The Miami Heat will reportedly sign their franchise player, Bam Adebayo, to a five-year deal worth $163 million dollars but could be worth up to about $200 million dollars according to the reports. As usual, Miami fans and people who don’t like Miami(you know who you are), don’t understand why Miami would want to lock up their star.

The moment Miami signed Adebayo to that extension, all I saw on my timeline were people suggesting that Miami now wouldn’t have the ability to sign the whale next offseason. If all thoughts are correct, then that whale is Giannis Antetokounmpo.

We live in a world where people just shoot from the hip, meaning that they just put anything out there and don’t care about the facts. The fact is that Miami had to extend Adebayo because he saw people in his draft class getting extended and none of them have accomplished some of the things he has, such as being a lead dog on an NBA Finals team in year three.

When you see the likes of Jayson Tatum and De’Aaron Fox getting their big extensions, it might make you think, he’s only human. Not about leaving Miami and not that those guys are more or less of players, it’s just that Bam earned and deserved his too.
