The Miami Heat were so close to Finals glory last season but couldn’t keep up. Goran Dragic retaining last season’s form would be a great service to returning.

The Miami Heat were a team worthy of the NBA Finals last season, let’s clear that up. All this talk about them making it that far being a “fluke” is absurd.

It sounds like salty talk from pundits who predicted them to be the eighth seed, as so many of them did, or from fans of other teams, as they couldn’t beat the team so they now choose to attempt to trash them. That’s neither here nor there though.

Not only were they a team worthy of the Finals run they made, but they were a team worthy enough to win the whole thing. Unfortunately and as we all know all too well, they were unable to get the job done.

While this ultimately doesn’t mean they would have won it all and while this isn’t an attempt to cry over spilled milk, the following is a fact and helps to build this whole narrative I’m painting. They were without two of their top three players, Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic.
