The Miami Heat run a tight ship. It’s all steered and guided by their own Captain Ahab though, their resident whale hunter, “The Godfather”, Pat Riley.

The Miami Heat do things a certain way. They always have and they always will.

That routine and rigid nature became even more emphasized when Pat Riley came aboard long ago and continues to be a calling card of the Miami Heat organization. So, it makes complete sense when we see certain comments or quotes coming out of that building.

One of that particular variety surfaced recently. It came from one of the newest members of the Miami Heat.

For what it’s worth, he hasn’t been there that long and can already see how things go. This is a thought from the recently acquired Maurice Harkless on Pat Riley.

The Miami Heat are built and operates in the image of Pat Riley. It doesn’t take long to see that.

The quote, from the man we all know as “Moe” as well, comes from Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Here it is.

"Maurice Harkless on Pat Riley, “I was talking to my mom, and she asked me what I thought of him. And I told her that he kind of reminds you of, like, The Godfather. You know what I mean? He’s like kind of the Godfather of all this.”"

He didn’t miss. He wasn’t wrong at all.

When thinking about a mother, they are a few things. They are stern, they are loving, they are forgiving and most of the time, even if we can’t see it at that moment, they only want the best for their children.

That’s Pat Riley. The Miami Heat and their players are his “babies”.

He only wants the best for them and sometimes, that means being tough on them. It also speaks for itself that a guy that hasn’t been there for a month yet already knows exactly what it is though.

Pat Riley isn’t The Godfather for nothing. He’s earned that title by being the key cog in the league and for many franchises for years.

Moe Harkless now has a first-hand account.
