The Miami Heat are perhaps still in the mix to land Giannis Antetokounmpo. His latest quotes provide some things to think about.

The Miami Heat didn’t make any splash moves this past offseason. It was a quick one and one that was coming off an NBA Finals appearance, so perhaps they figured it was best to run it back for just one more year with mainly what they had last season.

Another element in that whole equation has to be their planned pursuit of Giannis Antetokoumpo, perhaps? Maybe not, as perhaps they are just prepping for whomever they deem fit.

It’s worth noting though, they have done everything with next offseason in mind for a while now, the very offseason where he becomes a free agent. In any situation, things seem to line up pretty well and things like this aren’t a coincidence.

Things just got a bit more interesting though. In a quote from Wednesday, from ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Giannis shed some light on where he is right now with it all.

"Giannis Antetokounmpo, when asked about his contract, says: “Right now, I am not focused on that. I am just trying to focus on myself.” He adds that he is leaving those discussions to his agent, Alex Saratsis, and the front office."

While it doesn’t say anything for certain, it does say that he isn’t ready to commit to Milwaukee long term just yet, which isn’t a good thing for them. It’s interesting for a few more reasons.

Let’s look at them.
