The Miami Heat have a shot at Giannis… if he doesn’t take the super-max from the Bucks. We’ll be monitoring that situation.

The Super-Max Deal

As the quote from earlier highlights, Giannis has yet to sign an extension with Milwaukee and as he says, isn’t “focused” on that. There is this one little thing though.

It isn’t’ something that’s obvious but definitely implied. It has everything to do with his deal, or at least the amount of money it’s for.

If he doesn’t sign the super-max deal before the deadline of December 21st, then any deal would just be a maximum extension. That’s still a lot of money but just doesn’t make sense.

It’s a simple matter of zeros. If he were going to stay in Milwaukee for a while more, then he would definitely sign the deal that’s set to pay him significantly more money.

If he doesn’t sign that deal with the Bucks before the deadline, they have to assume that he’s gone. That’s the safest way to operate from that point on.

Whether they then look to trade him is something else altogether, but also something that must be discussed. We still have a few more days to see if he signs that extension though.
