Miami Heat fulfill the inevitable by signing Max Strus to 2-way deal
The Miami Heat constantly “find” guys. They might have done it again with Max Strus.
The Miami Heat are flying high again! Well, not quite yet, but they are coming off of a preseason victory over the Toronto Raptors.
Just the preseason, it’s not the result itself that’s impressive. The way that the results happened is the real story.
Being led by three of their newer guys in KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, and Max Strus, of course, the Miami Heat simply ran the Raptors out of the building on Friday night. Their offense was too much.
While Okpala and Achiuwa were delights to see perform as they did, we kind of expect that from them with them both being projected as lottery picks once upon a time and with the clout that their names have. What we have been pleasantly surprised with since preseason game one is the game of Max Strus.
The Miami Heat just signed another legit and lethal range shooter.
A marksman from range, Strus has also displayed the ability to get it done in other ways. He isn’t afraid to attack the cup in transition or in the halfcourt.
He isn’t a lockdown defender, by any means but like a ton of great Heat players over the years, he tries his tail off on that end. Sometimes, that’s all you can ask for.
Saturday saw it become official though. Here’s a tweet from Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel that has the business.
Of course, that means that they waived the other guy that was still in contention in BJ Johnson, but we knew this was coming. After the first preseason contest, Strus was the clear frontrunner.
After Friday night’s game, the second and last of the Heat’s preseason schedule, it was all but apparent that Strus was the guy. He just fits.
Strus might just find himself on the regular roster at some point, as if you can shoot it like he can, a spot can be found for you. With him in tow, the Miami Heat now have at least four or five guys who are simple deadeye from out there.
It’s all coming together again. And on Wednesday, we will see it all!
