The Miami Heat have decisions to make on a trade but their preseason has likely made those easier ones.

The Miami Heat start their official 2020-21 season on Wednesday night against in-state rivals, the Orlando Magic. Though the league officially tips off on Tuesday night, there are only two contests then, so the majority of the teams will get things started on Wednesday.

That’s a significant date for more reasons than just that though. According to reports, specifically this one from Sports Illustrated’s Farbod Esnaashari, that is also the date that those in the know and power of things would like to see James Harden moved by.

Who knows though? That could just be more leaves in the wind or another report to encourage movement.

Either way it goes, that’s how things like these go. But speaking of how they go, how’s this one going… for us, as fans?

The Rockets want to move Harden by Tuesday? Will Miami help them fulfill that wish?

After watching the Miami Heat play through the preseason, albeit only two games in the preseason, how do we feel about potentially landing Harden? Speak for yourself, of course, but I can say this, the preseason has changed my feelings completely.

For starters, I was never completely gung-ho about trading for him in the first place, however, I was indifferent. This meant that if they did, I was fine with it, although I would also be fine if they didn’t.

After watching this team in the preseason and seeing what they have to work with, I am totally against it. Not only do I not think that giving up some of the talent we have is a smart move, but I believe that Harden isn’t necessarily the missing piece, while there are also other pieces out there that could serve to put the Miami Heat over the top but wouldn’t cost nearly as much.

Victor Oladipo comes to mind there. However, he is just one of a few names that are sure to come available, as they always do.

The Miami Heat shouldn’t trade for James Harden. With talents like KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, and Max Strus shining as they have in the preseason, the Miami Heat can accomplish just as much by sticking to the way that they do things, as opposed to grabbing superstar like Harden.

Those guys aren’t Harden, that isn’t what I am saying. I am saying that Harden, individually, might not be worth all that those guys bring as a collective, along with whatever else they might have to send out to land him.

Let the Brooklyn Nets get him. They didn’t think Miami would do much last season and we all know how that turned out.

This season seems, again, ripe for another Miami Heat stunner. We can’t wait.
