The Miami Heat could do themselves huge favors this season by staying healthy.
The Miami Heat aren’t getting a ton of respect. Suprise, surprise?
Right? We are used to that.
People are saying that last season was a “fluke” and that the Bubble environment was conducive to what the Miami Heat want to do. That’s all fine and dandy, but when it mattered the most, the Miami Heat outplayed most anybody that was put before them.
Here’s the thing though, none of that even matters. As shown last season, the Miami Heat know what they can be if everyone does their job to the best of their ability.
Something else that has to fall in line for the Miami Heat is their health. Although they got to the NBA Finals last season and though no one knows what they could have done if whole, their chances were definitely all but shattered when Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic went down for significant time with injuries.
Specifically for Jimmy Butler and Goran Dragic here, if Jimmy can play 64 or more games while Goran plays 60 or more out of the 72 game regular season, that’s a win. Of course that would mean they stay healthy throughout the playoffs or at least with that hope.
This is all considering the injuries and depth of the run on their bodies from last season as well. With the rest of the team, you would just assume that they stay moderately healthy with some players missing games here and there, perhaps more for veterans like Andre Iguodala.
That’s why health would have to be their second Christmas wish though. If they can stay healthy, they have a shot to do something special all over again.
