Who’s the most obvious Miami Heat player to start beside Bam Adebayo on Wednesday? Meyers Leonard.

The Miami Heat are just a day away from tipping off their opening game of the 2020-21 season. With the Orlando Magic pegged in as their first potential victims of this season, the Miami Heat must first decide who will be the starting four-man for their team.

While we know that it’s more about who finishes the game for Coach Spo than who opens it, it’s still something that’s worth a discussion. There are a few candidates, most of them obvious, but there is one who pokes about a bit above all others.

That would be Meyers Leonard. He stands out among the group of potential candidates for a few reasons. Of the candidates to start, he was the only one to have a meaningful role with this particular team last season.

Secondly, he was actually the starter for most of last season until he got hurt and Jae Crowder came aboard, which almost happened simultaneously, though he still had a small role down the stretch. Those are the obvious two reasons why he would be the lead guy among those mentioned.

I wouldn’t be upset about it. He can threaten defenses from range, so his ability to pull the biggest guy on the opposing team out of the paint for drives and plays to be made by everyone else is something to really appreciate about him.

He’s just the first obvious guy though.
