Surprise Miami Heat players ready to contribute: KZ Okpala

The Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo is of Nigerian roots, with his paternal side being of the Nigerian variety. While it may not be something that the Miami Heat keyed on, it’s pretty ironic that two of their last three draft picks since Adebayo have also been Nigerian.

Well, technically, as although KZ Okpala was acquired via a draft-night trade, they planned to nab him all along. With that in mind, let’s look at the first two players.

While we did bury the lead with this one a little bit above, the guy is still a freak of a player already. With his size, length, and athletic ability, there isn’t a thing on the court that he can’t do on either side of the floor.

Need him to hit his open shots? Well, he can do that, as he did in the process of going nuclear in the Miami Heat’s final preseason game against Toronto.

You want to see his drive game? Well, he can do that too, as he also did against Toronto the other evening, taking on three defenders while driving to the cup and only to finish the play with the bucket and the foul.

You need to see him on defense, you say? Well, just check the tape of their first preseason game where he bounced between Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

There might not be a further range than that right there. One tall, long, perimeter guy who wants to deceive you with his change of pace and skill, while the other guy is a shorter, stalkier, bowling ball who wants to use his explosiveness and athleticism to crush you like a car at a salvage yard.

No matter what you want, KZ can give you a bit of it. That’s how we know he’s ready.
