The Miami Heat have another athletic forward in Precious Achiuwa. What can he learn from Bam Adebayo?

The Miami Heat drafted another athletic young forward to pair with the gifted young forwards that they already have. The newest of the bunch, Precious Achiuwa, comes into the league with a body and a skill set that is already ready for the big league.

With his body and ability as far as what he can already do, I can definitely see him making a major impact early on. That doesn’t mean that he doesn’t still have things to learn though.

With learning in mind, who better to learn from than his teammate and starting counterpart in forward, Bam Adebayo. With that, here are three things that Precious Achiuwa can learn from Bam Adebayo.

Bam Adebayo is a monster defensively. Not only is he good at guarding his own position, what really separates him is his versatility across all positions.

It isn’t just his elite athleticism that allows him to be such a dominant defender though. Bam Adebayo is smart and plays defense that way.

He doesn’t rely on his body all of the time to allow him to make up for mistakes, instead and often thinking ahead of the offensive player and beating them to their spots. You really see this in his ability to block shots from the weakside and from behind.

While raw athleticism has something to do with it, there is something about the offensive player that he keys on that allows him to make these plays. It may be something simple, such as which way their shoe strings are facing but whatever it is, Precious could stand to mimic all of Bam’s tendencies that he can.

That’s the first thing that he can learn from Bam Adebayo. That would be his keys and things that he is looking for on defense.
