The Miami Heat don’t really have a lock at the four, Kelly Olynyk might be the key guy there.

The Miami Heat value versatility and multipleness. One and the same, for the Miami Heat it could mean within your skillset, across positions, or simply how they can use you.

Kelly Olynyk fits that bill. He’s practically a Swiss Army knife, except he’s Canadian.

A man with a very wanky, YMCA, “off the backboard” type of game, he is as fundamentally sound as they come for an NBA big man. A master of the pivot foot, Olynyk truly embodies the old man game on the court.

He can cut, pass, shoot, steal a bit, block a bit, rebound a bit, handle it, and as referenced to by him being a big man, he’s near seven feet tall. He’s the definition of multiple.

While you would wish that he could be a bit more consistently aggressive at times, he serves his purpose and always plays hard. That leads us to his bold prediction for this season.

Kelly Olynyk Will Help Finish A Lot Of Games For The Miami Heat This Season

Here’s the thing about Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, it’s not about who starts the games as much as who finishes them. For example, Dragic had his coming out party last season as a sixth man extraordinaire to be feared for the remainder of his career but that mainly represents the fact that he doesn’t start ballgames for the Miami Heat.

In the closing moments and coming down the stretch though, Dragic is one of the key guys that Coach Spo depends on. I believe that Kelly Olynyk is poised for one of those types of roles this season.

After his showing in the NBA Finals, playing a key role in a pinch to help the Miami Heat snatch a game and with the Miami Heat’s lack of options as versatile as he is at the spot, there is no one that you can honestly say you trust more than KO in those situations. It’s definitely a situation where need and circumstance meet up to form a great situation for Kelly, who just so happens to be playing on the last year of his current contract.

Up for new money and with the Heat needing all he can offer, he should see plenty of opportunity to earn his next deal. The Heat will need him too and that’s a huge reason why I believe he’ll be key in helping the Heat finish off a lot of games this year.
