The Miami Heat are as good as they were last year, especially if they can fix their turnover issue.

When you look at the Miami Heat upon first glance, they seem to be an average to a mediocre team, at best. However, that’s what a lot of people thought last season.

While one season has nothing to do with the next, for the Miami Heat, in particular, that means that they have some of the same stuff going this year that they had going last season for them. One thing is their multipleness.

A gift and a curse, something that is a strength of the Miami Heat’s and a reason why they aren’t being taken seriously, for the second season in a row, is that the offensive production can come from anywhere. While you know that Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler will tend to be your leaders on a nightly basis from an overall and defensive perspective, your best offensive performer might be a different guy every night.

The Miami Heat can’t seem to hold on to the ball and if they can’t fix it, they won’t win as big as they should this year.

Regardless though, the Miami Heat can’t win at the highest level turning the ball over as much as they have to start the season. Through four games they have a total of 83 turnovers, 20.3 per contest, good enough for the 30th rank in the entire league.

This won’t get it done if you are the Miami Heat. Heck, no matter who you are, this will always end up with a losing record.

The Miami Heat have the talent to get the job done on a nightly basis, as their two wins show this season and that’s even with the turnover problems. If they can start to control that aspect of the game, then they can theoretically and quite literally beat anybody.

Figure this, they were manhandled by Milwaukee recently, after turnovers led to a ton of easy shots and three-point makes. However, they turned around and beat this same team by double-digits on the following night, with an equal amount of turnovers.

What that says is that this is a good team, but they need to become more disciplined with the ball and possession. That’s their New Year’s resolution, to value the ball and if they can, then they are well on their way to another deep playoff run.
