The Miami Heat gave a gutsy showing on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough.

The Miami Heat gave a gutsy showing on Wednesday night. That’s the first thing that has to be mentioned.

They came out flat to start the game, while the Boston Celtics came out on absolute fire. They could not miss to start the contest it seemed.

That pace and trend continued for much of the first half, up until the last half of the second quarter. It was then where you could literally see a change in the energy and focus of the Miami Heat.

It emanated from one guy specifically and I bet you could tell me who that guy is with one guess? If you guess Jimmy Butler, which I’m sure most of you did, then you are right.

The Miami Heat didn’t get the win on Wednesday but they did prove a point.

Though the Miami Heat lost the game, on a miraculous, out of nowhere, and stealth putback by one of the smallest guys on the court in Payton Pritchard, they really showed you a little something on Wednesday. You absolutely hate that they allowed themselves to get in the hole in the first place, that we know, but to see that they have that same plucky, Miami Heat, never say die attitude about them as we are accustomed to is always a gift.

It’s like this. As Miami Heat fans, you know that they are going to have it.

It’s like an evergreen plant though. Though you know it will turn green every year, you feel a lot better when you actually see it start to vegetate and flower again in live-action.

Seeing is believing as they say. The Miami Heat showed you that this group has that special something about them that helped to propel them to the NBA Finals last season.

Jimmy Butler is always the motor, as we know, so you need him healthy, on the floor, and fully engaged to maximize this Heat team’s output, but that’s something that we want as well. We would always rather have Jimmy out there than not, so there’s that.

Again though, that was my takeaway from Wednesday’s game. Though in defeat, this Miami Heat team proved against another really good team that they are every bit as good as they are and that they are still a team capable of making a run.
