The Miami Heat have been without a few of their top scorers across the last few contests. While second year dynamo, Tyler Herro, has been out with neck issues, Jimmy Butler has missed time due to the health and safety protocols surrounding the coronavirus.
With his absence specifically though, that was a major cause for all of the rest of the players on the team to step up in a big way. Besides, not only is Jimmy Butler the best player on the team, but he’s the guy they look at to make something happen in a pinch.
Is Bam Adebayo, not Jimmy Butler, the best player on the Miami Heat’s roster?
Over the course of that time though and even while he has been in the lineup at times this season, Bam Adebayo has flourished. He has added to his game, or at least decided to put it all on full display, while he has also stepped up in those crunch or clutch moments that you look for your stars to get you through.
With the way that he has proceeded to blossom into the player that he has become, it begs of a question. Is he the best player on this Miami Heat team right now, including Jimmy Butler?
That answer is no. Though he has far and away the most potential on this team, by a mile, he isn’t the best player yet.
He has to do this for the entirety of this season and then do it in the playoffs. After he does that, then he has to do it at least one more time before it’s officially who he is and not just something he’s capable of.
Jimmy Butler has proven time and time again who he is. Whether it be Philly’s most functional and successful team during his time there or the way he put on a gutty show during the Miami Heat’s Finals against the Lakers last season, Jimmy Butler is going to fight to the very end and come through at least half the time.
Bam Adebayo has a chance to and should be the best player on the team and as soon as the middle of next season to be honest, at this moment though, that title still belongs to Jimmy Butler. Bam’s coming along strong though and I can’t wait to see what else he pulls out of his bag as the year continues.
