The Miami Heat should be on the market to make improvements to their team. While many of the guys that were thought to be targets of the Miami Heat have since tied themselves to other programs, the Heat are now in a place to try to make something happen on their own.

One of the guys that was moved recently though was Victor Oladipo. Though he was traded already, he still hasn’t signed a new deal with Houston or anything like that.

What that means is that the situation that existed before he was traded, the scenario that practically and probably caused him to be traded, still exists. He is still an impending free agent without a deal and a guy that they could possibly lose for nothing at the end of the season.

What this means is that though he just got to Houston, they are in a similar circumstance that Indiana was in. They must also decide what they are willing to do.

Could the Miami Heat land both P.J. Tucker and Victor Oladipo from Houston?

Will they wait it out and hopes that he re-signs with them after the season? Or, will they take the Indiana route, try to move him, and ultimately get something back for him?

That’s a sticky scenario to navigate. While we are in Houston though, they have another guy who has been looking for a new deal as well.

P.J. Tucker has reportedly wanted a new deal with Houston for a while now. Unwilling to give it to him, Tucker may also be on his way out of Houston.

Though not as big a draw and ultimately, haul for Tucker, he too fits that same Oladipo situation. Will they re-sign him, finally, or will they decide to move him for something?

Now, with Tucker, there is a third option. They could decide to simply let him walk, for nothing.

Though Oladipo has too much value to do that, be that on the court or as an asset in a deal, I do believe they would sacrifice to make a point with Tucker. They won’t do what he wants to do, but they will shoot themselves in the foot to make it seem like they didn’t budge a bit.

Welcome to the world of business! In any situation, what’s this mean for the Miami Heat?

It means that they may, indeed, have a chance at them both. It makes it even more likely because they are both on the same team.

What that means is that facilitating a deal for both of them at the same time is about as easy as it would ever get. With them both facing the same contract situation, that puts all the leverage on the Heat’s side if they take that approach.

So, while we still don’t know if they actually will, the possibility is a very strong one. If they pursue it, it makes no sense why they couldn’t land both P.J. Tucker and Victor Oladipo at the very same time.
