The Miami Heat shouldn’t make a trade just for the sake of making one

The Miami Heat are sure to be a hot topic over the next few weeks or so. With the trade deadline at the end of next month, the trade talks and market should begin to boil over.

With the Miami Heat in the market to add pieces and seemingly needing help at the moment, struggling through their last 10 or so games, it seems inevitable that they will make a move, right? Well, not so fast.

That’s why we are here. The Heat might make a move, but they shouldn’t be a team that makes a trade just for the sake of making a trade.

The Miami Heat need to be targeted and with purpose if they decide to make a move.

The Miami Heat missed out on Giannis Antetokounmpo, as he never made himself available to other teams by re-signing with the Bucks early. Victor Oladipo went to Houston as apart of what ended up being the completed James Harden deal.

The previous statement also accounts for Harden, himself. This is although I never wanted him in Miami in the first place, personally.

Bradley Beal continues to express, for one reason or another, that he wants to stay in Washington… or at least, he hasn’t explicitly asked for a trade. The Heat’s potential targets are all tied up at the moment.

That brings us here. The Miami Heat shouldn’t be out here looking to make a move just for the sake of doing so.

Sometimes, teams make moves to try and say “hey, we’re trying” with their actions. The Miami Heat don’t need to do that.

They would be better served to continue developing and building within, unless a clearcut move becomes available. Before Derrick Rose officially landed back in New York, there was potential there.

There are new rumors buzzing about a potential Kyle Lowry addition happening as well. Those would be fine, as the Heat need general offensive help, guys that can attack/get it done off the bounce, and more guard depth in general.

Some random move that doesn’t seem to align with anything else that’s been going on would be fruitless though. I don’t believe we have to worry about that with Pat Riley at the helm, but it needed to be expressed.

That’s especially with crunch time approaching in this wacky thing we call the NBA Trade Season.
