Miami Heat: For me, it’s not either/or with Max Strus and Duncan Robinson

The Miami Heat are fresh off of a tough loss at the hands of the Utah Jazz. Traveling to Salt Lake City on Saturday night, the Miami Heat started the game well and closed the game well.

It was just those two pesky periods sandwiched in between that gave them issues. They jumped right on Utah and closed better than Utah, though the score was out of hand at that point.

You can’t win them all and being that Utah is the hottest/best team in the league right now, who better to lose to than them? You would rather not lose to anybody, but if you had to, why not the best team in the league?

That’s not the point of our chat today though. In that game on Saturday, Max Strus continued to be impressive.

So much so over the last few games, that it has fans having amnesia about the guys that have been there. Let’s get into it.

The Miami Heat found another one in Max Strus, but he doesn’t supersede those that were there.

In case you hadn’t figured it out already, it’s pretty obvious. For me, It’s not and will likely never be Max Strus or Duncan Robinson.

For me, it will always be how can Duncan Robinson and Max Strus help the Miami Heat or what they can accomplish together. That’s the best approach to take with the two of them.

While Max does do some things that Duncan hasn’t shown us he can do, Duncan is a flat-out sniper and so much so, that even Max and his superb outside shot haven’t proven to be as lethal yet.

Basically, Max might be able to put it on the floor and/or attack the rim better, but has he shown us that he can be that game in and game out assassin from deep that Duncan has proven to us that he can be? He hasn’t yet.

That’s why we shouldn’t’ think about this as a replacement or an upgrade, but as another supplementary piece to the greater good of it all. Why give up on one elite shooter for another guy who could also be an elite shooter, when you could just focus your energy on maximizing them both?

I am a firm believer in the following statement. Don’t run down and get one, walk down and get them all.

That’s the approach we should take with this scenario. That’s also why, for me, it will never be either/or with Duncan Robinson and Max Strus, but “both”.
