The Miami Heat lost another game on Wednesday night and this is one that they simply should have won. Being up by as much as 15 as the fourth quarter dwindled down, the Warriors got it to nine with around five minutes left.
At that point, the Heat called a timeout. We, somehow, imagined that if they could find a way to push it back out to 14, that the lead and time lapsed off the clock at that point would be enough to help them secure the win.
Boy, were we wrong?
The Miami Heat are a broken team right now and I don’t know what the fix is.
Not only did they not push the lead back out, but they actually allowed that gap to be closed. So much so, that by the end of regulation, the Warriors had come all the way back to tie the ball game.
In overtime, the Heat seemed to have the leg up, but then the Warriors and Steph Curry did what the Warriors and Steph Curry does. They hit a few treys, the Heat couldn’t score, and the game was all but over.
Here’s what really bothered me though. The Heat lost this game in a way that’s very un-Miami Heat like.
While they aren’t a great rebounding team at all this season, a poor one to be completely honest, they typically make the plays that need to be made. That has always been something that the Miami Heat do.
When they needed a rebound the most on Wednesday night, they couldn’t secure it for the life of them. That’s apart of what helped them get beat.
Secondly, the Miami Heat have come to be known as the team that’s never out of it, where no lead is safe, as they aren’t going to quit, and you better be ready to fight until the end. Now, they are the team that’s constantly giving up double digit leads to lose.
It’s really frustrating, of course but even more than that, confusing. This Miami Heat team is broke, as we know they are losing right now, but it’s the way that they are losing that says that to me.
I sure hope the fix is out there or this is something that they can shake off. If it isn’t, boy, will it be a long rest of the year.
