The Miami Heat should extend Kendrick Nunn early before the ticket blows up.

Before the rest of the league, including the Miami Heat, were out of the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, I contended that the Miami Heat should prepare to move Kendrick Nunn. Whether that was a deal to be able to make the Giannis deal, a section of the Giannis deal, or as a move to get pieces to supplement Giannis if he had chosen Miami, that’s what the thinking was.

After he decided to remain in Milwaukee though, my thinking changed. I, then, wanted to keep Kendrick Nunn, but not because of anything special he had done or was doing.

Besides, this was around the end of the bubble and entering this year. He was really struggling, but again, I still thought it would be better for the Heat to hold on to him, see if he would bounce back, but mainly as a mechanism of not doing anything irrational because they had missed out on The Freak.

So, again and to make sure we are all on the same page, at that point I wanted to keep Nunn in Miami, but more for Miami’s purposes. However, things have totally changed again now.
