The Miami Heat took Precious Achiuwa, a stretch four if I ever did see one, out of Memphis with their 20th pick in this most recent draft. Though there were a few other guys there when they selected that I though could have been the guy for Miami, I wasn’t upset at all.

Nights like the one he had against the Hawks is the stuff that I saw that made me feel comfortable with that pick. His performance against the Atlanta Hawks is the reason why… for a few things.

The Miami Heat took Precious Achiuwa at 20 in the most recent draft and Sunday’s game is why.

When you think about why they took him there to potentialy pair with Bam Adebayo, you look at how much he impacted the game without having a single play called for him. He just makes things happen with his approach to the game.

That helps a ton because Bam Adebayo has the ball a lot. Not that that’s a bad thing either, as Bam’s ability to create with the ball and Precious’s ability to do work without it should only be a good thing.

When I said I liked the Precious pick immediately after and that he was culture guy, this is what I meant. He didn’t play in the Heat’s last contest against Utah, at all.

What did he do though in the very next contest against Atlanta? He proceeded to come out in the next game and have arguably the best performance of his short career thus far.

As of matter of fact, it was his best game. Lastly, when you look at said approach to the game, it wasn’t anything fancy.

It was “violence”. It was sheer aggression and want to that allowed him to make the plays he did.

He wanted those rebounds more, he wanted to catch those passes more, and he wanted to stop you from making the shot more than you wanted to make it. It was nothing more than that.

This performance from Precious was just the reason why. It was the reason why they took him at 20.

It was the reason that I liked the pick when they made it. Lastly, it’s also the reason why I have appreciated Precious minutes all year long and asked for more, because I knew that this was in him.

Now, let’s see if we can get this from him on more nights than we don’t.
